As we launch into the 2020 Calendar for Causes season, many of you may have noticed our new shipping options. We introduced our Go Green initiative last year, but this year we have something even better in store through our partnership with Trees for the Future Trees for the Future.
Who are Trees for the Future?
In the early 1970’s, Dave and Grace Deppner served as volunteers in the Philippines, where they witnessed the human tragedy brought on by illegal logging and unsustainable land management systems. Working with community leaders in nearby villages, the Deppners found a way to offer hope. They revitalized lands by providing farmers with tree seeds, technical training and on-site planning assistance.
After returning to the U.S. from their overseas assignments they continued what they had started, communicating by mail with the project leaders and providing seeds, information and training materials. On August 14, 1989, Trees for the Future was incorporated as a public charity. Since then Trees has planted over 115 million trees in dozens of countries and revitalized hundreds of thousands of acres of soil while changing people’s lives forever.
What is our commitment to being green?
In past years, Shop4Charity has offered customers the option to order as many calendar products as desired, but to only ship ONE physical item (while still receiving all of the designated entries into the sweepstakes). This is still an option for our 2020 Calendar for Causes Sweepstakes but this year, through our partnership with Trees for the Future, we will plant ONE TREE in your name.
In addition to our original Go Green shipping option we have added “Save the Green”. This allows you to receive all of your sweepstakes entries but not receive any of the physical product ordered. Our customers still have the option to receive a digital copy of the product. With this option, through our partnership with Trees for the Future, we will plant FIVE TREES in your name.
It is our hope that by planting more trees, we can help our cause partner reach their goals and also leave our planet a little greener!
